Notes for Wednesday reading

12 years in exile and the Pandavas now have 1 year of disguise at the court of King Virata.
Yudhishthira has finally learned gambling so he is Kanka, a gambler.
Bhima becomes a cook named Ballaba
Arjuna takes Brihannala and is a dance teacher
Nakula is Granthika and works in the stables
Sahadeva takes Tantripala and becomes a cowherd
They leave their weapons in a shami tree where no one will find them

Bhima is to avenge a main who was raped by Kickaka, he takes Draupadi's place in the dark and kills Kickaka.
People then want to burn Draupadi at the funeral.
Duryodhana hears Kickaka's death and attacks King Virata.

The year of disguise is up so the Pandavas go to rescue Virata.
They reveal who they are and Arjuna's son Abhimanyu marries the princess Uttara.
Yudhishthira seeks peace but Duryodhana makes the king refuse.

They all prepare for war at Kurukshetra.
Arjuna hurts Bhishma so bad that he lies on a bed of arrows waiting to die.
A truce was made until he died.

Draupadi's brother, Dhristadyumna, wants revenge on Drona and tricks him and finally ends him
Arjuna slays Karna

Duryodhana takes refuge beneath the lake and is scared to face the Pandavas
He does single combat with Bhima and bhima breaks his thigh.
The Kaurava survivors raid the Pandavas camp at night and kill everyone but them and Krishna.

Uttara has a child Parikshit who will carry the family line.

Yudhishthira becomes king of Hastinapura
A curse makes people of Vishcamitra to kill one another.

Krishna dies to a hunter who thought he was a deer.
Arjuna takes his wives to the Punjab but they get captured
Yudhishthira and the other Pandavas depart the world and Parikshit is now king.

Arjuna gives back the Gandiva Bow to Varuna
The Pandavas then all die because of things they had done wrong

Yudhishthira continues with the dog where indra tries to take him to heaven. He says no because he is loyal to his dog. This was a test and they are both taken
Yudhishthira is then tested again when he renounces heaven to be with his brothers, they all get taken to heaven.

Week 7 Storytelling

 The Pandava's The Pandava's, consisting of Yudhishthira, Bhima, Arjuna, Nakula and Sahadeva, are the five sons of Pandu. Three of the sons, Yudhishthira, Bhima, and Arjuna, were birthed by Kunti, who mated with three different gods, as commanded by Pandu. The two remaining sons, Nakula and Sahadeva, were born by Mardi, who had the sons with the Ashwins.  These five sons escape from Hastinapura, where Dhiritarashtra is king. Duryodhana, the son of Dhiritarashtra, is very upset to hear the news that the Pandava's are still alive. As for the king himself, he cannot find a reason to dislike them. Dhiritarashtra being the king, he decideds that he would like to see the Pandava's again and proceed to invite them back to Hastinapura. In order to gain the Pandava's trust, Dhiritarashtra gives them a part of the kingdom for them to rule themselves.
