Time Strategies

Image
I am usually pretty good when it comes to time management but you can always get better. On assignments that do not seem as cool, I will usually procrastinate more on them because I don't want to do them. Reading is one of those thing that I do not enjoy very much but with the right time management I will easily be able to get the work done. I read How to Beat Procrastination  and it gave tips on how to cut back on procrastinating. The one that stood out to me the most is where you reward yourself for getting to different benchmarks that are predetermined. Procrastination

Technology

I am a computer science major therefore I am very knowledgeable with computers and how to use them. Although I am a computer science major, I don't like to be on my laptop when possible so I really don't enjoy the online environment that were having to do and I would much rather go to classes in person.  Technology

Assignments

The storytelling assignments sound really interesting to do and I think I will enjoy reading the stories. The semester long project also seems like it will be fun to develop throughout the semester. I think I will also like commenting on other students blog post to get to know some other people. The wikipedia trails extra credit is something that i've seen before and I think that will be something that is fun to do! Link

Growth Mindset

Image
Prior to watching the videos about growth mindset by Carol Dweck, I had never heard to either of them. I did not know what growth mindset was beside what I assumed it to be and I have never seen Carol Dweck. Watching the videos taught me about what the growth mindset is and showed me how similar my mindset is without even knowing it. Growth mindset is all about yets and not yets. It's about problems being challenging and wanting to be able to figure out the solution even if it is way over our heads. I believe that I follow this way of thinking because I love to sit down and try to solve nearly impossible problems. Wether that is simple hand held puzzles like a Rubik's cube or hard coding problems that take hours to figure out. I never completely give up, but I take a break and visualize telling myself not yet. This is a very important way to think because it will get you further in life knowing that things will be difficult at some points but there are always ways to get throu

Introduction to a Coder

My name is Matt, and I am a senior student at the university of Oklahoma. I am majoring in Computer Science and double minoring in both Math and Business. I came into college as engineering undecided because I hadn't taken enough classes for me to figure out what I actually wanted to do. I had done a simple coding class in high school that came to me very easy so I decided to give it another try and absolutely loved it. It came to me very easy and knew that this is what I wanted my major to be!  Just this past summer I was lucky enough to land an IT internship with the company PepsiCo. I was also lucky enough to be able to work through this internship completely virtual. It was originally supposed to be 12 weeks long but, given the current COVID virus, the duration was shortened to only 6 weeks. I am extremely grateful that PepsiCo was able to continue this opportunity because I had a couple friends who's internships were completely cancelled. In doing this internship, I recei

Storybook Favorites

D3M0N BR07H3RS This storybook caught by eye by the name of it. Demon Brothers is such a strong name for a storybook and is a fish hook itself. It is always interesting to learn about other cultures stories and myths. The introduction of this story really pulls you in and makes you want to learn more about these brothers and why they were looked at as freaks by regular humans.  Link to storybook   Rakshasas Karma for Kids I wanted to read about this storybook because karma is something that I believe in. Good and bad karma happen to everyone regardless if they even know it. In this storybook, the mother educated her three children on karma by telling them about ancient stories about Rama's exile. The introduction did an alright job in making me want to read more into the story. Link to storybook Rama's Exile A Hero's Adventure The title of this storybook made me want to read this. Who doesn't love to hear about someone going through their heroic adventure. Once I start

Favorite Place

Image
My favorite place is Cedar Creek Lake in Texas. One of my best friends owns a lake house down in Gun Barrel City off of the Cedar Creek lake which I have been to many times. When we go down to the lake, we usually get a group of friends to all come with us and hang out at the lake for the next couple of days. The owner of the lake house also has a great boat along with 2 jet skis that we are allowed to use. Taking these jet skis onto the lake is one of the best part of the experience because I get to control what I do and how fast I can go. We trade off who drive and by the end of the day we love to take the boat out to a restaurant out on the lake.  Cedar Creek Lake
